Step- By- Step DIY Elderberry Kit Instructions

Hey Elderberry Lover!

Congrats on purchasing an Elderberry Kit and kudos for giving it a try. Whether you're a seasoned chef, a mom that struggles to boil water, or somewhere in between, I'm confident you'll enjoy making your own batch of our magical potion.

This kit was made with only the finest, premium organic herbs and spices.  We even added Mullein Leaf for incredible respiratory support.

What is Mullein Leaf?  One of the most well-known uses of mullein is its ability to help alleviate respiratory conditions. Taken as a tea, it can help with common ailments such as dry cough, congestion and sore throat. It may help with inflammatory respiratory conditions, such as asthma and bronchitis as well.

Step 1- Simmer, Simmer Now

Empty entire Elderberry Elixir Kit bag into four cups of water and heat on medium heat until the mixture starts to boil.  (Add an additional half cup of water to if you have lost too much liquid while boiling.)

Reduce heat to simmer and cover. Simmer for about 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.

(Warning: Elderberries have an interesting smell...some people like it and others think it stinks so maybe open a window? :)

Step 2- The Good Stuff

Remove from heat and allow it to cool for 10-15 minutes.  Pour the syrup through a fine mesh strainer into a glass bowl.  Remove all cinnamon sticks.

Step 3- Press dem' Berries

Use the back of a spoon to extract all remaining juice out of the berries (a potato masher or bottom of large jar, will also do the trick). Discard the elderberries.

Step 4- Sweeten It, Your Way

Allow the elderberry extract to cool completely before whisking in the honey.  (This is REALLY important because if the mixture is too hot, it will destroy the healing/medicinal properties of raw honey.)

Mix half a cup to one cup of local honey, maple syrup or agave into the extract liquid.
Add the honey and stir until it dissolves into the mixture.  You can adjust this to taste but I recommend starting with 1/2 a cup of honey.

TIP: Use local honey for extra seasonal & allergy support.

Why sweeten it?  Not only does honey help with the naturally bitter taste of elderberry, but it will also aid in preserving it.

WARNING: If you do NOT sweeten your Elderberry extract, you MUST freeze it after 2 days or it will begin to ferment (spoil).

Step 5- Bottle That Goodness

Pour your elderberry syrup into an airtight jar or glass bottle.

Store in the refrigerator for up to two months or freeze pre-measured syrup doses in ice cube trays.  (Silicone ice cube trays work best.)

Now What?

You did it!  You've got yourself about 32 ounces of organic Elderberry Syrup made with premium, organic ingredients that were hand-picked for YOU.

Here's how we suggest using your Elderberry Syrup:

1 teaspoon for children 6 and under

1 tablespoon for ages 7 years old and up

Take once a day (preferably in the morning) during cold & flu season to boost immunity and take every 2-3 hours during illness to fight colds & flu faster.
